ESTABLISHMENT CHRONOLOGY

OF TANJONG MALIM DISTRICT COUNCIL


 

1904
The Local Authority was known at this time as Batang Padang Sanitary Board and was gazetted under Government Gazette No1077/1904.


1923
A new division located at Jalan Raja Itam, Tanjong Malim, known as Tanjong Malim Sanitary Board (TMSB) was created under the control of Batang Padang Sanitary Board.


1958
TMSB was reorganised to become various small divisions, namely. Tanjong Malim Township Council, Trolak Township Board and Local Board (Slim River, Slim Village, Behrang Stesyen & Behrang Ulu.


1975
Local Authorities comprising of Tanjong Malim, Slim River, Slim Village, Behrang Stesyen and Behrang Ulu were reorganised by the State Government as was renamed Local Government Management Board (LGMB)


1976

Federal Government gazetted Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) to integrate all (LPKT) in the country.


1 December 1979
Tanjong Malim District Council was established pursuant to Section 3 Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171). The Council's area is 10,140 hectare with an estimated population of 33,393.


2002
In April, Tanjong Malim District Office moved to and started operating at Bandar Behrang 2020.
